On Saturday April 26, the rain didn't stop the dedicated walkers
to raise awareness for the need to become an organ and tissue donor.
About 50 people showed for the walk which started 100:30 a.m. from
East Stroudsburg High School South and went to Stroudsburg Court
House Square - a mile-and-a-half in distance. There the walkers
rallied to have refreshments and hear guest speakers.
Among the speakers were Audrey Dileo, a donor family mother and
state Rep. Mario Scavello.
Dileo gave a moving account of her and her husband Patrick's
decision in honoring their son John, who was a transplant recipient,
and his own decision to be an organ donor.
She thanked the Northeastern Pennsylvania Transplant Support
Group Inc., for helping her and her husband to get a chance to
meet other organ transplant recipient. She said she "sees
her son John in the eyes of other organ transplant recipients."
President Dale W. Payne thanked participants and sponsors who
included ShopRite, Fox Ledge Water, East Stroudsburg Savings Association,
Johnson Screen Printing, and the Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau.
